Last night I caught Giants Rising at the Rivian Theater in Laguna Beach, and it completely delivered. The film is a stunning tribute to the power and presence of California’s ancient redwoods. Beautiful cinematography and solid storytelling. I was locked in from the start. If you’ve ever walked among those trees and felt something shift inside you, this film will bring it all rushing back.
What I loved most was how the film balances awe with urgency. It captures that sense of wonder the redwoods inspire, but also makes space for reflection on how fragile these giants are. The interviews are heartfelt, the visuals are next level, and it never feels preachy. The redwoods are quietly teaching us about longevity, resilience, and the importance of holding space for future generations. This film gets that across without forcing it. It just lets the trees speak for themselves.
Quick note on the Rivian Theater. It’s a great little venue right in downtown Laguna Beach. Clean, well-designed, and a solid spot to catch something special.
