I originally posted this to my Facebook profile, but since I will no longer participate there, I thought I’d also put it on my website for anyone who didn’t see it there.

With Meta (FB) now fully becoming MAGA and tossing fact-checking into the trash, these will be my last few days on Facebook. I can no longer, in good conscience, continue to stick around. At this point, being on Facebook feels about as respectable as if I had created a Truth Social account. And let’s be real, it would take a blizzard in hell for that to happen.

Social media, controlled by asshole billionaires, has become a cesspool for everything wrong with society. Facebook is now on a path to become a breeding ground for conspiracy theories and disinformation at an even larger scale than it already is (here’s looking at you, X). The results speak for themselves, and I will not participate or want to live in a world where facts are dismissed as easily as Trump’s indictments.

And yet, here we are. Tomorrow will be a dark day for America. Trump, Musk, and the Tech Bro brigade will be cozy in the rotunda, laughing at the blind loyalty of MAGA diehards who followed along every step of the way, driven by lies, absurdities, and facts twisted beyond recognition, all while they bask in the spectacle, cash in, and consolidate even more power.

The saddest part is watching folks fall deeper and deeper into this toxic garbage, completely blind to how much it is tearing everything apart, while platforms like this actively erode any remaining sense of unity, trust, and truth. And don’t get me started on data harvesting and idolizing billionaires.

To the real ones, you know where to find me. For the rest of you, it’s been real. It’s been fun. But it ain’t been real fun.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

UPDATE:

I have now fully deleted my Facebook and Threads accounts. Instagram will be next, but I manage a teen account there currently and I will be working on alternatives for that as soon as possible.
